Dermatology Specialists Provides Hundreds of Free Skin Cancer Screenings This Spring

Panama City, FL – June 19, 2025 – In a continued commitment to skin cancer prevention, the team of experts at Dermatology Specialists provided hundreds of free skin cancer screenings this May and June. The screenings were part of the group’s mission to raise awareness and promote early detection across the communities they serve.

Dermatology Specialists has been providing free skin cancer screenings to mark Skin Cancer Awareness Month every May since 2006. This year, Dermatology Specialists’ board-certified physicians and advanced practice providers completed more than 140 free skin cancer screenings, identifying two cases of possible melanoma, five possible squamous cell carcinomas and 14 possible basal cell carcinomas.

To expand its community outreach, Dermatology Specialists partnered with the Skin Cancer Foundation’s Destination Healthy Skin program in June. Their dermatologists volunteered a day out of clinic to provide free screenings to more than 130 community members in private exam rooms aboard the foundation’s customized RV at Dermatology Specialists’ Alpharetta, GA, and Dothan, AL, locations. These initiatives identified four presumptive melanomas, 24 basal cell carcinomas and 8 squamous cell carcinomas.

“Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States—but it’s also one of the most preventable and treatable when detected early,” said Dr. Radhika Trivedi, a board-certified dermatologist who performed screenings at the Dermatology Specialists Alpharetta location. “Our team is proud to offer these complimentary screenings and share life-saving information with our patients and neighbors.”

“We’re honored to partner with the Skin Cancer Foundation in helping people take control of their skin health,” said Dr. Stricker, board-certified dermatologist who performed screenings at the Dothan, AL location. “Remember, a five-minute exam can change—or even save—someone’s life when it comes to detecting skin cancer early.”
