Dermatology Specialists Of AL, FL, GA & MS To Hold Free Skin Cancer Screenings In May

April 18 2022 – Dermatology Specialists of Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi will be holding free skin cancer screenings across multiple locations during the month of May for skin cancer awareness month.

“Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, and it is estimated that one person dies from melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, every hour,” said Board-Certified Dermatologist and Mohs Surgeon Jon Ward, MD. “Yet not only is skin cancer preventable, it’s highly treatable when detected early.”

Skin cancer warning signs include changes in size, shape or color of a mole or other skin lesion, the appearance of a new growth on the skin, or a sore that doesn’t heal. “We understand the importance of educating the communities we serve on the fact that regular skin checks play an important role in early detection and treatment of skin cancers,” explained Dr. Ward. “That’s one of the reasons we have made access to free screenings a priority since opening our business in 2006.”

Free screenings are available to any adult who has not been screened by a dermatologist in the last 12-months. A full list of participating locations can be found here. Please note that limited appointments are available and advance registration is required. Please call 877-231-3376 (Monday-Thursday, 7:00am-5:00pm and Friday 7:00am-4:00pm CST) to schedule.
