Spencer Hawkins, MD, FAAD is a double board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon. He is now performing Mohs micrographic surgery in Alpharetta, Marietta, and Tucker.
Dr. Hawkins brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise related to medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. He graduated from the Wake Forest School of Medicine before going on to complete his dermatology residency at the University of Michigan, followed by a Mohs micrographic surgery fellowship in northern Michigan. Additionally, he completed an International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS)- accredited hair restoration fellowship in Orlando and an American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) preceptorship in cosmetic dermatology and laser medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, and The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
Dr. Hawkins is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is among the first in the nation to be double board-certified in both dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery. He specializes in Mohs skin cancer surgery for the treatment of basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. This highly precise method for removing skin cancer provides patients with three proven benefits—high cure rates, minimal scarring, and quick recovery. The Mohs procedure allows surgeons to remove only the cancerous area of skin, preserving as much healthy skin as possible. This technique greatly improves the cosmetic outcome and is highly beneficial when treating skin cancers found on the face, neck, ears, and hands.
“I believe in the golden rule of medicine,” shares Dr. Hawkins. “Treat each patient as if they were a member of your family.” His expertise, passion, and focus on providing the best individualized treatments to his patients make him a great asset to the Dermatology Specialists of Georgia team, where he will be joining board-certified dermatologists Alan Gardner, MD; Michelle Kerrigan, MD; Radhika Trivedi, MD; and Raven Elosiebo-Walker, MD.
