Dr. Peter Barnes was born in Annapolis, Maryland and grew up in Eugene, Oregon. After majoring in Russian at Brigham Young University, he earned his Doctor of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Barnes then went on to complete his dermatology residency at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, where he served as the chief resident during his last year. He then moved to Mississippi to begin his assignment at Kessler Air Force Base.
In addition to diagnosing and treating the full range of dermatology conditions, Dr. Barnes is committed to educating his patients on the importance of protecting their skin from the sun. He is also an advocate for community outreach and continuing research when it comes to sun protection.
He is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Barnes enjoys spending time with his wife and four children exploring the beautiful Gulf Coast. He also likes running, cooking, music and sports of all kinds.
