Somer earned her Master of Science degree in physician assistant studies from South College in Nashville, Tennessee and her undergraduate degree in biological science from The University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Her appreciation for the impact skin health can have in someone’s life was largely shaped by both her personal and clinical experience and is what drives her total commitment to dermatologic patient care.
Somer’s prior experience includes medical and cosmetic dermatology, providing postoperative care and internal medicine within the inpatient setting as well as implementing evidence-based behavioral interventions to pediatric patients with autism and related developmental conditions as a registered behavioral therapist.
Somer is a board-certified physician assistant through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is also a member of the American Academy of Physician Associates, Society of Dermatology Physician Associates, and Physician Associate Moms.
Outside of work, Somer enjoys spending meaningful time with her family and staying actively involved in her church community. She also enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, swimming, and kayaking, along with taking on home improvement projects and training her two dogs, Boone and Athena.
