Spencer Hawkins, MD, FAAD

Dr. Hawkins is a University of Michigan-trained, board-certified dermatologist and Mohs micrographic surgeon. A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, he graduated from the Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He completed his dermatology residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, followed by a Mohs micrographic surgery fellowship in northern Michigan. Additionally, he completed an International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS)-accredited hair restoration fellowship in Orlando and an American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) preceptorship in cosmetic dermatology and laser medicine under Dr. Mathew Avram at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Hawkins is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is among the first in the nation to be double board-certified in both dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery. He specializes in Mohs skin cancer surgery for the treatment of basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. He takes pride in educating his patients on the benefits of Mohs, including minimal scarring and a cure rate of up to 99%.

His expertise spans medical and cosmetic dermatology, hair restoration, and Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancer. He regularly speaks at internationally renowned conferences, including Masters of Aesthetics, ASLMS, and Skinsanity. Dr. Hawkins has authored numerous scientific research articles, academic poster presentations, and book chapters. His media appearances include interviews in Glamour Magazine, Dermatology Times, The Dermatologist, Parents Magazine, and PopSugar. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, ASLMS, and ISHRS.

As an avid outdoor enthusiast, Dr. Hawkins enjoys hiking, skiing, and scuba diving. He also enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
